Sue became involved with watercolors in 1980 after a 15-year career in Physical Education and coaching. She teaches 4 to 6 workshops a year where she combines her enjoyment of the intricate process of drawing with the wet on wet approach to watercolors. Most of her work is representational with a strong emphasis on color and design by simplifying a subject's light and shadow patterns. Using a close-up view, she accentuates the dynamic interplay of positive and negative space.
Her goal as an instructor is to present you with as much design and color theory information as time allows and encourage you to take advantage of the inherent wet into wet qualities of watercolor. The objective is not to change you, but to add to your core of knowledge. Then it is up to you to take this knowledge and apply it to the style and subject matter that suits you.
